A Very Cheesy Mother’s Day

Last weekend as most of you were preparing to pamper your mom, we were preparing for a day at the San Antonio Zoo with Tillamook Cheese and some of our favorite San Antonio Mom Bloggers. Having spent quite a bit of time in Texas last year we fell in love with the culture, the food and the sites, but mostly the people.  So, when the Loaf Love Tour was stopping at the San Antonio Zoo to share their cheese and celebrate Mother’s Day Weekend, we had to be there.

We arrived Friday night to meet the Tillamook team and help put gift baskets together for the event the next day.  We had so much fun catching up over a few glasses of wine in hotel room coffee mugs.  After a serious rain spell in San Antonio we woke up to perfect weather for the event on Saturday.

A quick shuttle to the Zoo got us there right on time to see the YUM bus and Loaf Love Tour tent being set up for the day. There is nothing like seeing the little YUM bus, it is such eye candy!  In honor of Mother’s Day Weekend Tillamook was offering free admission to the first 100 Mom’s wearing orange.

Our media event was held in the Africa Live Center in a fantastic space overlooking the hippos and alligators. We had everything for moms and their kids from a Mother’s Day card craft station, face painter and bean bag toss to a fun photo station with props galore. The face painter was a big hit. She turned the little ones faces into different animals.

One of our favorite parts of the event was the make-your-own grilled cheese bar complete with local ingredients like carnitas, brisket, and plenty of choices of Tillamook cheese.  We were so impressed by Define Delicious and her Avocado Shrimp Grilled Cheese and Sweet Life’s Brisket Cheddar Grilled Cheese.

A surprise animal visit was very popular with the kids. Some friendly zookeepers brought out a hedgehog and turtle to share and the kids were fascinated.

And of course, it wouldn’t be a Tillamook event without Loafy!

We had so much fun chatting with the bloggers and their families the event went by so fast. All of a sudden it was time to say goodbye and head back to the airport. Luckily we got to make a quick stop at the Alamo before heading home. It’s a must see!

We want to say a big thank you to all of our San Antonio bloggers for coming and spending a part of their Mother’s Day Weekend with us.  Until next time!
